Description: |
Seven cars, one locomotive, and 1400 feet of track were pulled from the roadbed in the 3/26/04 strigline derailment here at "coal chute curve". Five of the seven cars derailed remained coupled in the gulley for several months after being yanked into mid air and falling to the ground. Repairs to CSX 7311 were for walkway damage and cab fire. |

Three weeks after the track at coal chute curve was patched up account a stringline derailment the rear six corn cars of a northbound grain train fell in the gauge wiping out the rest of the reverse curve at the 31 MP. The cavalry finally arrived with 132 Lb welded rail. |
